How Missionary Children Support Their Peers

The work of the Missionary Childhood Association is built upon two pillars: Prayer and Sacrifice.

Prayer

Children in the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) commit to praying daily for other children around the world and for the spread of the Gospel. Through prayer, they learn that they are part of a global Church family united in faith and hope.

Sacrifice

Missionary children also make small, meaningful sacrifices to support those in need. Their offerings, collected by national mission offices, are contributed to the Universal Solidarity Fund for Missionary Childhood, which provides vital funding for projects serving millions of children.

In the United States, children participate through the Mite Box program, a decades-old tradition that encourages them to learn about, pray for, and give to children living in mission territories.

Through these faithful acts of prayer and sacrifice, children in Asia, Africa, Oceania, and the Pacific Islands receive:

  • Catechesis and faith formation
  • Food, shelter, and medical care
  • Access to education
