Mission Appeal:

THE MISSION OF THE CONGREGATION OF THE SONS OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION (CFIC) IN ALBANIA

Responding to Poverty, Promoting Human Dignity through Healthcare and Education

The Congregation of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception (CFIC), a religious institute of pontifical right founded by Blessed Luigi Maria Monti in Rome on September 8, 1857, has dedicated itself for over a century and a half to caring for the sick, educating the poor, and uplifting the most vulnerable members of society. Inspired by the vision of its founder—a man of deep faith, heroic charity, and unwavering compassion—the Congregation continues to live out its charism in various parts of the world. One of its most meaningful and urgent missions today is in Albania, a country still grappling with profound social and economic challenges.

Albania’s Social Reality: A Mission Field in Urgent Need

Albania, though rich in culture and history, continues to suffer from deep inequalities in access to basic human services, especially in healthcare and education. The scars of its communist past, combined with persistent economic difficulties and widespread emigration, have left many communities—particularly in rural and mountainous regions—without adequate support.

Enhancing Educational Opportunities: Education is the foundation upon which dreams are built. At the Catholic University of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Tirana, we are deeply committed to ensuring that no young person is denied the chance to dream due to their circumstances. Through our initiatives, we provide scholarships and comprehensive educational support to children and youth from disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds. These scholarships are more than financial aid—they are lifelines and pathways to brighter futures. They empower young minds to rise above poverty, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to society. Every child we support represents a promise of transformation, not just for themselves but for their families and communities. By investing in education, we invest in a future filled with compassion, opportunity, and progress.

Expanding Access to Healthcare: In Albania’s remote villages and underserved communities, access to healthcare is a distant dream for many. Through Health Care Clinics “Atë Luigji Monti” and the Catholic Hospital, we work to bring essential healthcare services to those who need them most. Our work extends beyond healing physical ailments; it restores dignity, offers solace, and rekindles hope as envisioned by our Founder. Inspired by his witness, we bring love and compassion to those who suffer in silence. Each patient treated is a life touched, a heart lifted, and a testament to our unwavering commitment to serve. By reaching out to the poorest and most isolated, we reaffirm the belief that every life is precious and worthy of care.

The inclusion in the Mission Cooperation Plan (MCP) provides a valuable opportunity to collaborate with your diocese, amplifying the reach and impact of our mission in Albania. Together, we can uplift lives, shape a brighter future, and bring hope, dignity, and compassion to those most in need.
