Pastoral program for the Disabled in
the Archdiocese of Dhaka

The Archdiocese of Dhaka takes care of pastoral, sacramental and spiritual care of 86,127 Catholics. There are 27 Parishes/Quasi Parishes and 22 Sub Parishes and sub centers in the Archdiocese. Some of them will be declared Parishes in near future. 35 Religious Congregations are also rendering services in the fields of education, healthcare, development and formation etc. The Archdiocese has 29 primary schools, 6 junior schools, 10 high schools, 11 colleges and one university. The Archdiocese also extends services through a good number of vocational/technical schools and hospital, health care centers and dispensaries.

The program of the pastoral care for the disabled both physically and mentally was started as part of the overall pastoral program of Merciful Love for the poor. We have one larger and four smaller homes of hope (home for the disabled) in the Archdiocese. We need a permanent place and building for the better service to the disabled.

The proposed building will create the following facilities: a multipurpose hall to be used for the programs of the disabled, personal rooms and small dormatory with attached toilets, kitchen, dining room, chapel, sacristy and parlor.

We also have charitable activities with Caritas, Sisters of Mother Teresa, St. Vincent de Paul, and other Catholic carities.
