Diocese of St. Thomas

On September 6 and September 20, 2017 two category 5 hurricanes, Irma and Maria, hit St Thomas. Hurricane Irma most affected the St. Thomas-St. John district and did damage to St. Croix as well. Hurricane Maria mostly affected St. Croix. At the time St Croix was being used as a staging area to help with recovery from the damage done on St Thomas and St. John and so most recovery operations had to be suspended. The hurricanes caused five direct deaths in the Territory.
