Congregation of the Missionary Brothers of St.Francis of Assisi (CMSF), popularly known as Franciscan Missionary Brothers is a religious and missionary congregation, exclusively devoted to the evangelization of non-Christians was founded in India in 1901 by a Jewish convert Bro.Hermann Pauluz Moritz.
The Brothers work where there is no Christian presence; catechize the non-Christians with the intention of bringing them to the Catholic fold. Thus during the last 117 years of service more than 160 missions are established, developed and handed over to the respective dioceses out of which many are vibrant parishes and mission centers and four among them are flourishing dioceses. Besides having a strong missionary presence in India through 80 communities in 19 States, the Brothers also minister and work in Paraguay, Bolivia, Sri Lanka, Ghana and Kenya.
Besides pioneering evangelization, option for the poor based on the Franciscan Spirituality is other hallmark of our mission. We take the good news to the poor and marginalized people trying to empower them socially, economically and spiritually. We are also involved in providing education to the poor and vulnerable groups, care of orphan, disabled children, care of people infected with leprosy and HIV/AIDS, rural health ministry, trade schools for the youth leading to employment, rehabilitation of children in the street, parish ministry and religious education.
MCP donations are used to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through primary evangelization, as well as to promote and support vocations, faith formation and catechesis, to build churches and to meet the cost of formation. Missionaries also use some of these funds in direct-service projects such as providing basic health care in the remote and rural villages, provide education through schools (especially for girls), vocational skilled training institutes, mobile medical programs, to provide assistance to needy children, the ill and abandoned, to run orphanages, to provide clean drinking water, nutritious food, assistance in housing, medical relief for those with leprosy, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. The MCP funds also used to train lay catechists, education of future missionaries, and for women’s empowerment programs.
The Franciscan Missionaries try to transform the lives through the Gospel, committed to the proclamation of the Gospel to non-Christians. They continue to follow Jesus’ command to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations. Your inclusion of our Mission in the Missionary Cooperative Plan can help us to take the Gospel wherever it’s most needed and save a family from poverty and hunger-and open up a world of opportunities. We want to be in more places and help more children and families.
We want to continue to train local catechists, open more elementary schools, and care centers helping us to bring smile on the faces of the poor and marginalized people in the name of JESUS CHRIST!
Thank you in advance for helping us to take the Gospel to the poor around the world, and changing their lives, one family at a time.
